Friendships

December 06, 2019 by Ikeranda Smith in black, history, love, loveislove, people of color, personal growth, queer, relationships

This relationship started from a simple email sent all the way from Nairobi, Kenya πŸ‡°πŸ‡ͺ from a beautiful light that decided to take a chance on building a friendship. Who knew? Who knew that we would have a mutual affinity for one another? Who knew that as soon as she had a business trip to the states that it was imperative that we share time + space? Who knew that we would continue to communicate? Who knew that she would take the time to share parts of her life + inquire about parts of mine? Who knew that she was as beautiful in person as she was dancing across my screen between different exchanges? Black folks rarely meet strangers. I know, it’s complicated!

With that being said, this wonderful human being/tribe member/sister-friend/ + now family member was an absolute joy to spend time with. Thank you for sharing a meal with my wife + I. Thank you for sharing a meal with the infamous crew. Thank you for the gifts + your wonderful spirit. Next time you’re in the states, you must stay with us... we insist!

Here’s to authentic living + authentic friendships! Salut!
