Intimacy
We love deeply because how else do you adore the woman that resembles your past; yet works hard to heal your future. I don’t know how after 15 years, distance, heartbreak, past lovers, mistakes, trauma, children, divorce + everything in between has kept us this in love. They say courting is not for bringing you together; but seeing if life can tear you apart. I would agree 100%! We see each other in ways that our parents didn’t get a chance to because of our father’s addiction. It’s complicated!
Abandonment is a house we shared, we just didn’t know we were neighbors. We’ve witnessed the weight of life on individuals forced to carry the weight of children alone. We’ve observed the heavy hearts of individuals longing to be held but afraid of their lover’s embrace. We’ve watched our lives race before our eyes because who has time to be innocent in the presence of reality?
So we go hard for our love + share it laced with unadulterated truth for everyone who desires to know how two black women with kids make this shit work. We stare a little longer, kiss intimately every day, sleep scantily clad, make love like we have no kids + communicate always. Here’s to black love + intimacy.
